Murdock Middle/High School Reviews

The MMHS system is what you make of it. My children are very successful in this school and yes they are involved in many different programs including sports and student council. The education they are recieving here has proven to be quite beneficial for their future endeavors. Most teachers are at this school for the right reasons, to teach because they enjoy the experience of seeing the children learn. I can't honestly say one thing bad about it.

Ilive in gardner and my 2 boys go to winchendon 1 in memorial and 1 at murdock they love it there and so do i teachers are great make my kids want to go to school ty for all that you do

As a recent Murdock graduate, I must firmly state the immense amount of pride I have simply knowing where I have come from. Murdock provided me with tremendous opportunities and laid the foundation for me to attend college now. I know that I will be successful in life, as I was there, and I owe a lot to the teachers I encountered in every discipline. I wish more people would stop dwelling on some negative aspects of my old high school and start seeing all of the great things that have been happening.

I am a current middle school student. I wish there was more of an opportunity for music. Not everyone can play an instrument or sing. The acedemic programs aren't very great. All students have to pay $200 to play school sports. The same parents are always involved. They don't give others a chance.

I currently attend Murdock. I am from class of 2007. I, from personal experience, do not like my high school. I do not agree with everything they do, but that's why they are the autorities. Our school has not been the idol for most curriculums, and our test scores are low. However we've kicked it up a noche. In the situation of music/sports/or art, We hold very much pride. Our football team is not Notre Dame, our music classes are not the Boston Symphonic Orcesrta, and our artists are not Picasso's...but that doesn't mean we don't love it. I am in chorus , and I take very much pride in it and will NOT have it criticized. Parent involvement has nothing to do with the school. Parents in this town do not care, or simply do not have the time to care. Hense our amazing rate of drop outs.

Murdock has to be one of the worst schools in the country. How the teachers received their teaching certificates is beyond me. There is no structure or basics in any of the classes. Teachers are either weak or bull-headed, and none of them have any disciplinary tactics whatsoever. Parents do not get involved because it is useless. I tried, with my child, and all but two teachers ignored my plans to instill more school interest in the child. Regular guidance sessions were requested, which was not carried through on a regular basis. Students don't care about their school work or actions because the teachers don't care. They just want to get the year over with. As far as I'm concerned, there is way too much attention on the extracurricular than on the academic. If I could afford it, I would place my child in some other, more qualified school system.

I think that Murdock needs more teacher/student involvment. Teacher should be more willing to help students instead of expecting more then the student can acheive.

I am a parent of a Murdock student and proud to be one! My student plays sports and is involved in many other areas of the school. I believe your get out of something what you put into it. Murdock has taught my child many things, leadership skills, problem solving, sportsmanship as well as good preparation for the MCAS, PSAT and SAT. Murdock has some good caring teachers, parents and students as well as some strong leadership in its VP's. There is always room for some improvements. Together, that will come.

my daughter goes to murdock and she is in 9th grade, as a parent , i think the teachers should get more involved and plus the parents as well, thats why she is on the honor roll , cause as a parent i get involved. plus i think the school district needs to get more involved with the parents . Plus disipline needs too be more strict. A 0 tolerance needs to be put into place. But all in all the school is a good school.

Murdock High School provided me and many others with the opportunity to attend college and pursue professional careers. Education is what you make of it and Murdock provides teachers, facilities and programs that help those willing achieve those goals. We as graduates of Murdock are managers, VP's, engineers, grad students and so on for some of the most well respected firms and educational institutions in the world.

I attended MHS from 6th grade to 12th and I would have to say that the school itself isnt the problem rather the lack of interest on the students part. Although I would have to say that most of the teachers there should not be teaching. A lot of them do not enjoy it and therefore shouldnt teach.
